Note 776 Apartment Life 012 Still Unpacking And Decluttering

I just realized today on Sunday, March 10th, 2024, that I haven’t made an update about my move to the new apartment since January.

So what is new? I have bought so much since I started moving into the apartment in November 2023. I still have a lot of things I need to get, but my spending on apartment necessities is slowing down some. Spending is turning more into buying things for decorating the apartment, more than buying practical things needed for basic living. I’ve been buying a lot of artificial plants, and I will continue buying more for awhile. I hope to have the majority of my home decor spending done by the end of June this year.

I’ve been stocking up on more storage containers again. This time around, I’m getting smaller containers that can be used to organize my belongings into easier to handle containers, rather than keeping things in big containers. The reason for this is because it is just easier to see what you have in smaller containers than it is the bigger ones when you have a lot of things stored in them. The smaller containers are also easier to move around the apartment when I want to dig through them for decluttering. So I have all of the large containers I bought when I moved, plus a bunch of small containers I recently bought, and tomorrow I’m going to buy some medium containers I had my eyes on last week. That may or may not take care of all of container needs. If not, I think one more shopping trip for containers next week will probably do it for me. My goal is transfer all of my possessions into new containers, and get rid of all the old storage containers that don’t match. I know that sounds like a waste somewhat, but it is a part of my decluttering goal. Having all of the new containers only would mean that all of my containers match in size, and so would be easier to organize on my utility shelves.

So I still have a lot of work to do with organizing things in my apartment, but I’m getting to near the end of most of the work I need to do and then I can start actually living in a home again. I can already tell that I’m getting there because I’ve gotten back into some crafting and shopping for more used books… which is a story for another post to come.

Note 764 Apartment Life 011 I Need More Folding Tables

Today I decided that unpacking and decluttering is not going as fast as I would like. I feel like a good solution for me that might help would be to go to the store tomorrow morning and buy some some extra folding tables. Why? I think putting some tables out in my living room where I can just empty boxes and put things out on the tables would get boxes emptied faster. I would be able to set things out in a sort of “yard sale” fashion on the tables where I could see everything, and from there be able to see more clearly what needs to go, and what needs to stay.

I might not get everything put away faster that I’m keeping, but the tables would provide me with more surface space to work with. Yes of course I could just put things on the floor, but I don’t want to do that. These extra tables could also be used going forward for periodic home inventories, craft projects, makeshift desks if needed, and various other uses I’m sure having portables would be handy for.

So first thing tomorrow morning, I’m going to go (I think) buy some 6 feet long folding tables (2 possibly 3). I could however change my mind and not get them, just for the purpose of saving the money for other things, and just carry on the way I am now with unpacking and uncluttering. There is also the fact that buying more tables is not exactly decluttering. I just feel like I’m not progressing with this part of the moving process fast enough.

Maybe this doesn’t have to be a fast process?

I was hoping I would receive some deliveries today. I’m expecting 2 area rugs and a dining set. Maybe I’ll get everything tomorrow.

Note 759 Apartment Life 010 Fridge Magnets

Today I found my fridge magnets while unpacking. I was happy to find them. I don’t have many, but I discovered the stove, dishwasher, as well as the fridge all have magnetic surfaces. So I put all my best magnets out. My apartment is slowly but surely becoming more like home with each box I unpack.

Note 757 Apartment Life 009 New Area Rug

Today I received my 7′ 10″ X 10′ 2″ blue abstract circles area rug that I bought on Amazon. I was happy with the delivery. I came neatly rolled up and wrapped in plastic, with cardboard end caps for protection. UPS left it propped up outside my apartment door. Rolling it out in my living room was easy, and it looks great. I’m considering to buy one for my kitchen.

Note 736 Apartment Life 008 TCL Roku TV

Yesterday I bought a 50″ TCL Roku TV. Today I bought 2 more. I now own 3 new tv’s. I’m considering to buy 3 more soon. Why you may ask would I want so many tv’s? Two of them will be used for streaming live cams on Youtube, and the other one will be used for Tubi movies and weather. If I get 3 more, they will be used like giant digital photo frames.

Note 730 Apartment Life 007 Still Unpacking

Today has been a good day. I didn’t get any sleep at all, but I had a great time chillin’ out at my apartment, and unpacking. I also had breakfast at Jack’s. I intended to have my breakfast as take out at my apartment, but they served it as dine-in, and I didn’t argue it. There weren’t many people in the place, so I didn’t mind eating there.

I started an apartment management list for myself today. It should help me to get things organized I hope.

Note 714 Apartment Life 006 Still Unpacking

Today has been a good day. I got mail picked up at the post office, bought some groceries, and got quite a bit of unpacking done. I stayed up later than I should have, and I will suffer for it at the facility tonight, but I feel I accomplished something today, and that is great.

I’ve finally gotten around to putting my books up on the shelfs, and I can see more floor space in my living room. Things are finding their places, and in regards to posessions, I’m starting to see my life again as I’ve collected it. I hope that makes sense.

I own a lot of things. I don’t like that honestly at this time in my life, especially with a smaller living space, and I plan to declutter, but it’s comforting to see things finding their place, and I know where things are again. The apartment is coming together somewhat, and I hope in a month time from now, I’ll have it looking nice.

I gotta go for now. I’ll get back to the blog later.

Note 703 Apartment Life 005 Logitech Z533 Computer Speakers

This morning I was working on setting up my kitchen counter laptop work station. I got everything set up, but I realized that it is going to be a hassle to connect my RaveParty bluetooth speaker to my laptop every time I need sound. Ok maybe not so much a hassle, but slightly inconvenient since I always have to keep the speaker charged and I do have to go through the process of connecting it each time I get to work. I realized a actual set of computer speakers would be better. So I decided to go out and buy a new set of computer speakers.

I went to Best Buy and found a Logitech Z533 speakers set, and it’s just perfect for the area I have on my kitchen counter. The set comes with a nice subwoofer and two satellite speakers, and I’m getting some great sound that is appropriate for the room, that can probably be heard throughout my entire apartment if I turn the volume up enough. I was looking at a smaller set (model Z313 – I think), but I’m certain I made the right choice for my needs with the Z533 set. I will enjoy watching concerts and other things on Youtube with these speakers for sure.
