Note 191 Pad53 Now Has Three Socials You Can Follow

Thanks to WordPress and Jetpack, I have now been able to connect 3 social platforms to Pad53.com so that my website can automatically update them with the latest posts. This gives you more options to follow my content, and may make it easier or more convenient for you to share the content on your favorite platform. I am grateful to WordPress.com and Jetpack for providing these features so that I can easily distribute my posts from this blog. The platforms you may enjoy my automatic updates on are Facebook, Mastodon, and Tumblr. Unfortunately Twitter is out of the picture on this since Elon Musk charges arms and legs for API access, and my webhost provider refuses to pay it, which sucks. You can find the web addresses to my socials to follow for updates below.

Mastodon – https://mastodon.social/@Pad53

Note 121 Mastodon Has Spoiled Me Part 001

How has Mastodon spoiled me this time? NO ADS!

I’m loving it. Mastodon may not yet have the same variety of big name accounts to follow like Twitter and Facebook do, but I am definitely loving the NO ADS experience.

I wrote about it on Mastodon earlier today, and this was what I said: “Well well well, whodathunkit, but I’m getting tired of the other networks (Twitter, Facebook)… because ads. There is a reason I don’t populate my blogs and websites with 3rd party adverts. I could, but I don’t, because I too hate ads, and I don’t like subjecting my website viewers to that mess. I make photo and art ebooks people can buy if they want to support my work in blogging. I guess this is also one of the reasons Mastodon is growing on me. No ads.”

Don’t get me wrong. I get it that mainstream social networks like Twitter, and Facebook need to make an income to support the platforms, but it is ridiculous how many ads they show in sequence. It’s like every other 3rd post is an ad. You don’t get that on Mastodon which is open source, federated, and supported by donations. And for me, as far as publishing and engaging with the accounts I have found interesting enough to follow on Mastodon, this is great. It means that the time I spend scrolling on Mastodon is spent actually seeing more interesting contents without ad interruptions. No ads, it’s free, and it’s still receiving the monetary support it needs to stay in service. You can’t beat that.
